Millennium Development Goals
In 2000, 188 nations (including the United States) agreed to the following
- 1. Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
- 2. Achieve universal primary education
- 3. Promote gender equality and empower women
- 4. Reduce child mortality
- 5. Improve maternal health
- 6. Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria, and other diseases
- 7. Ensure environmental sustainability
- 8. Develop a global partnership for development
These items are supposed to be halfway accomplished by 2015.
Based on the current pace, we will not achieve these goals. Not for want of the "means" or the "way" to do it. It is because of a lack of will. Let's show the world's governments that we people of faith have the will, and the promises must be kept.
